Prof. David Reguera from Universidad de Barcelona visits ASC as part of a CCP5 lecturing tour involving Queen’s, University of Cambridge, University of Warwick, Oxford University and Imperial College.

All members of the ASC would like to offer their warmest congratulations to Tony Paxton who has recently been made Professor. Such a distinction is thoroughly deserved, and we look forward to a long and prosperous future with Prof. Paxton as head of group.
Former ASC member Arnaud Marmier has become a lecturer in Engineering at Exeter University
Emeritus Professor Ruth M Lynden Bell has been elected to the Royal Society. In retirement in Cambridge, Ruth is very actively involved in the ASC and visits us on a monthly basis.
ASC has now completed the commissioning of our second 64-node dual Opteron compute cluster. This new system has Myrinet interconnect and is housed in our new, dedicated computer room in the basement below our offices. The machine was supplied by five-nine solutions. where further details of the hardware can be found.
