Last week three researchers from Atomistic Simulation Center presented their works in Boston at an annual meeting of American Physical Society. Piotr Chudzinski presented his work on ‘The influence of 1D topological states on the thermoelectric properties of Bi2Te3 from the perspective of coupled Tomonaga-Luttinger liquids (TLLs).’ , Pablo Aguado-Puente presented study of ‘Electronic properties … Continue reading “ASC at APS March Meeeting 2019”
Elton has just been confirmed in post as a Lecturer. We all congratulate him warmly for achieving this milestone.

The ASC in C&E News. Together with colleagues at Iowa, we studied by first-principles simulations the radiolytic degradation of ionic liquids. Paper published in JACS 135, 17528 (2013)
ASC welcomes Dr. Piotr Chudzinski who will be working with Myrta, Jorge, Javier and Tchavdar on thermoelectric problems.
Several images from the ASC feature in the ARCHER Image Competition 2016 Gallery. Check out the beautiful images from Dr. Elton Santos, Mr. Peter Rice and Mr. Alejandro de la Calle.
Mario del Popolo has been nominated Honorary Professor at QUB. A former Lecturer in Applied Mathematics, and member of the ASC, this nomination gives continuity to many long-standing collaborations, in particular through the MSCA-RISE project, “ENACT”. Congratulation Mario on a well-deserved achievement!
Congratulations to Maeve McAllister and Dawn Thompson for passing their PhD vivas! We wish them both the best of success in their new careers.
Congratulations to graduate student Peter Rice on his recent work just published in ACS Nano. This work could lead to much cheaper and energy efficient materials for LEDs, for applications such as smart phone displays.
